Liverpool's Manager Offers No Excuses and Vows to Plot Route From Slump

Liverpool's head coach stated he needed to “look at myself” after Liverpool endured a sixth loss in seven Premier League games on their own turf against Nottingham Forest and affirmed he would discover a solution from the champions’ slump.

Forest, fighting against the drop before kick off, produced the largest victory at Anfield in their club records as Liverpool slipped to an 8th loss in eleven matches in all competitions. The British record signing, the Swedish striker, was again unnoticeable and Liverpool contended Murillo’s first goal should have been disallowed for comparable grounds to the captain's chalked-off goal against City prior to the national team pause. But the manager conceded the buck stopped with him and made no excuses.

“No one wishes to hear me now speaking about refereeing decisions if you lose 3-0 at home to Nottingham Forest,” stated the Liverpool head coach. “I ought to examine my own role first and my squad, but it demonstrates you how a score can change the flow of a match. Earlier I was just hoping for us to net a strike. Later we hardly generated any chances.

“Naturally there is a way out, particularly with the talented footballers we have. Regardless if you triumph or are beaten when you look back you are always thinking: ‘Where can we improve, in what aspects can we adjust?’ but that is something else from questioning yourself.

“I want to emphasise I am responsible for the present losses. You are responsible when you are victorious but also liable when you are losing. I can not come up with enough reasons for us to have the results we have. That is far from good enough and I am to blame for that.”

The team's performance unravelled as Slot introduced several attacking substitutions when chasing the game. “It was the same on the road at Forest the previous campaign,” he said. “I substituted Ibou [Ibrahima Konaté] out and put on [Diogo] Jota and he found the net straight away to equalize at 1-1. Then it was courageous, now it’s probably stupid.”

The Anfield side last lost back-to-back at Anfield league games by Nottingham Forest in the sixties. The most recent occasion they suffered back-to-back league games by a 3-0 scoreline was in 1965.

The manager said: “It was very bad. Competing on home soil, losing 3-0 regardless of which opponent you encounter is a very, very bad result. Unexpected if you look at the first half-hour of the match. I haven’t seen us creating so many chances in the initial 30 minutes maybe the entire campaign, and the first time they entered in our box they found the back of the net.

“It did not happen at City, but in all other game we have been the controlling side and were able to create opportunities. Recently it is almost consistently that we fail to convert our chances and the attempts we concede go in.”
