Recent Particulars Surface Regarding the Finding of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Bodies

Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the untimely passing of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Los Angeles home home on Sunday.

The Alarm

According to a report quoting a person close to the family, a therapist scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the residence. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.

When she went into the house, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had gone with her contacted 911. Following this, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Proceedings

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained without bail.

Clarifications

The person close to the family challenged several initial details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.

Furthermore pushed back against widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement also extends to descriptions of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.

Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports noted the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
