The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Chose the Incorrect Critical Role Track

This latest animated series, the newest animated series by Critical Role, revealed an exciting introductory sequence. It showcases the beloved cast of misfits, outcasts, and criminals kicking ass and making their mark, while also hinting at several agonizing personal histories for key figures including Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, the character Fjord.

Overall, the intro appears amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was missing in the music selection.

This sequence employs "Welcome to Wildemount", a truly stellar composition composed by producer and singer the talented musician. This piece originating from the official score of that title, the second release released by the production company's record label their music brand. It's a wonderful sentimental choice, and I believe that fans of the second campaign will love its presence.

But for me, The Mighty Nein's intro doesn't quite capture the hype and excitement that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", written by singer-songwriter Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic in my view when it was first revealed in 2015, and it only got better when co-founder the performer wrote words to the melody for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the track was memorable and fun. At the time, I hadn't seen the second campaign at that point, but this was such an earworm that I kept it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an installment of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's a grand piece of music, but based on my understanding of this party, I can't help but feel that its mood is a little off.

Naturally, the creators has stated that the series will have some surprises and variations from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its intro appears as among these.

This animated adventure will be released on the streaming service from November 19. If you can't wait before that, or want a head start to get to know the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are available on the audio platform and YouTube.
