The UK is prepared to move forward with using the full worth of seized Russian funds to support Ukraine's war effort, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a shared declaration, the officials of the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this coordinated action would increase strain on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge the Russian Federation to participate in talks.

They further noted that the decision would be implemented in tight collaboration with the America.

United Kingdom sanctions have frozen more than £25bn of Russian funds since Moscow launched its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. However, up to this point, money sent to Ukraine using Russian holdings had only been taken from gains and dividends earned on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were in agreement in their desire to drive progress toward utilizing the full value of the seized Russia's state funds to conclude the conflict.

He added that additional sanctions in the coming days and weeks would heighten the tension on Russia.

This statement is subsequent to EU leaders met in Copenhagen previously to discuss employing frozen Russia's funds for a €140bn financial aid to Ukraine.

Recently, American leader Donald Trump called on international partners to seize or utilize seized Russia's funds, based on news outlets.

The value of frozen Russia's funds in the European Union is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

President Zelensky calls on UK's Sir Keir Starmer to join the PURL programme

Russia executed extensive aerial attacks throughout the Ukrainian territory on Friday, resulting in electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the city, and eight other regions.

A pair of individuals were fatally injured and no fewer than 20 people were wounded in the assault, Ukrainian officials reported.

In a post on social media after the attack, Zelensky commented that the cynical and calculated attack targeted public and utility structures.

"The necessity is not empty words but firm measures - from the US, Europe, and the Group of Seven - in providing defense mechanisms and enforcing restrictions," he wrote.

"All penalty impositions diminishes Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky wrote, in a different message.

In the same period, Zelensky told the press he would encourage Sir Keir to join the Purl program, under which alliance members acquire weapons from the America to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While praising the Britain's strong support for Kyiv, he said it should send a clear signal that it would take part in the system, as well as enforce further measures on Moscow.
